June 1st, 2014

For me at least, today was a welcome Sabbath. ¬†As the newest member of the Cane Creek church choir, I was warmly welcomed into the fold. This morning we accompanied special guest Tyrone Aiken, a former Broadway singer with a powerful bass. After church I had the best BLT of my life, with lettuce from the garden and home-cured bacon from Woodcrest pigs. Later in the afternoon, Grandpa brought back a vanful of bread and random groceries donated by Whole Foods. The food is at the verge of expiration, but is perfectly fine for the pigs. They dined in style on bread, yogurt, and other organic goodness. Megan Klayum arrived this evening to join our farming family. She jumped in right away with her first milking lesson; she’s a natural!
