October 16th, 2012

Milking this morning was a full-team affair, with Wilson, Tonya, and Ryan joining Chris and I. Many hands make light work, and after breakfast we headed out to the day’s work – Wilson and Tonya in the garden here, Ryan and I up to Breeze to pull the remainder of the mulch. We were joined by Daren, who came up to do the tilling for us. Meanwhile, Chris was teaching future sewers, and when she was done, she brought Wilson and Tonya up to save the flowers before we pulled everything up. By 4:30 we had done it – all the plastic mulch was up and most of our plot was tilled. There’s a little cleanup left, but in the main we’re done. For me, and possibly Daren, there will be continued maintenance work, but Woodcrest is done for the year at Breeze.
Back home, we were just getting underway with evening milking when we discovered that the old Pine State freezer had quit sometime in the last 24 hours and a lot of the meat had thawed. Still cold, but thawed. We had to quickly find alternative freezer space, which Chris and the team did while Noah and I milked. And we were finally done.
