October 6th, 2012

Today was Nicholas School Fall Festival day. Michelle Lewis was here to help with milking, and Yona’s family (mother, sisters) was here as well. We got the chores done, and started on final cleanup. Among other jobs, I was obsessed with the idea of having the lights working. I was able, with only minor injuries, to replace the ballast on one light and get it working. Chris made a special trip to City Electric to get a replacement fixture for the other light, but I ran out of time to install it. But by 4:00pm, we were pretty much ready. The Nicholas school volunteers were here in force and we whipped the barn into shape pretty quickly.
As for the actual festival, we had the hayride (Daren and Jessica), blacksmithing, a campfire, lots of BBQ, and other goodies and activities planned by the NS organizers. It was a fun event for all, I think. But it has been a hectic few days for us and I am going to keep this short and sweet.
