September 9th, 2012

It was a busy day on the farm, starting with milking at 8am as usual. Michelle and Kristin Lewis were on hand to help, and we were out of the barn in good time. The lack of a working dishwasher has been an annoyance, requiring carrying all the bottles to the house, but that problem was due to be solved in the afternoon.
At 10, Susan Bessoir arrived for her first blacksmithing class, which occupied me for the next two hours. She did well, making two very nice hooks.
My afternoon was spent with paperwork until about 2:30, when I left for the Raleigh area with 3 objectives:

  1. Move Breeze’s BCS repair along;
  2. Buy a dishwasher Chris found on Craig’s list;
  3. Get enough fencing to finish poultry yard.

I got home around 6:30 with all three more or less accomplished. Whatever was wrong with the BCS had fixed itself as far as I could see, so I brought it home. Agri-supply didn’t have the fencing, but I bit the bullet and bought it at Lowe’s. It was a large enough purchase that I pushed through on getting a tax-exempt number for Lowes which will come in handy. Lastly, I got the dishwasher for $50.00. If it works even a little while it will have been worth it.
In the evening, I finally fished what I think will be the Breeze West estimate and its ready to send off.
Noah was mowing most of the day; Chris was cleaning up the house and putting away stuff.
