April 1st, 2013 Comments off

Easter Sunday, 2013.  It has been a busy day on the farm, beginning with a steady downpour that woke us early.   Our morning was primarily devoted to Easter services, although Chris has the added chore of milking 4 momma goats and feeding 39 baby goats each morning.   Back from church, we spent time with the whole McGuigan family, who spent this Easter with us, and then worked on Easter dinner preparations.

We had thought we would have a fairly small crowd, but by the time we sat down, we had 14 at the big table and 4 little ones at their own small table. Our hoop house Chris had prepared fresh ham, scalloped potatoes, and a dynamite creamed spinach dish; Diane brought over a spiral cut ham, and Julia’s family brought some vegetable dishes.  Needless to say, we had enough food.  For after dinner entertainment, there were tours of the gardens, good discussions, and a screening of Les Miserables.

I include a picture of the “inside” garden.  It has been growing now about a month and it looks pretty impressive.  The “outside” gardens are not so far along, but doing well.  We are disappointed in progress at Breeze, which is late this year.

We are grateful for all our blessings on this Resurrection Sunday, and hope our farm friends and visitors share those with us.
